Hawai'i Act 104 Compliant

That’s why all of our sunscreens are Hawai’i Act 104 reef-compliant and made without Oxybenzone or Octinoxate, two ingredients banned in Hawai’i for their potential harm to coral reefs and marine life.

What is Hawai’i Act 104?

Enacted on January 1, 2021, Hawai’i Act 104 prohibits the sale of sunscreens that contain Oxybenzone and Octinoxate. These ingredients have been shown to contribute to coral bleaching and disrupt marine ecosystems. COOLA fully supports this regulation and goes beyond it. We never use Oxybenzone or Octinoxate in any of our formulas. Whether you choose a mineral sunscreen or a chemical sunscreen, every COOLA SPF meets the requirements of Hawai’i Act 104 reef compliance.
