5 Doable Skincare Goals for 2022
5 Simple Skincare Goals
5, 4, 3, 2, 1, happy new year! A new year means a fresh start and new goals. But that can also bring on added stress and pressure (and who needs more of that?), so keep2022 simple. We’ve compiled 5 easy, what-did-you-do-to-your-skin skincare goals we’ve made that make a big difference.
1. I won’t touch my face
Did you know that on average people touch their face 23 times per hour? So what’s the problem with that? Let’s start with the most obvious—your hands touch everything! And when they touch something, they gather up germs, bacteria, and viruses (think of things like your phone, door handles, etc.) and then transfer that to your face. So to prevent infections and getting sick, you should keep your hands away from your face—especially your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Or just wash your hands, right? Yes, of course, wash your hands frequently with soap and water. But it’s not just germs that are transferred, dirt and oil from your hands can clog pores and lead to breakouts (which leads you to touch your face again—probably subconsciously).
So keep your hands clean and away from your face as much as possible to stay healthy and keep your skin clear.
2. I will wash my face and take my makeup off at night
We get it. And we’ve all been there. It’s the end of the day—a long day. You just want to throw your pajamas on and climb in bed. And it’s so tempting. But the extra 3 minutes that it takes to wash your face and remove your makeup before bed is so worth it. Just think about it. You’re going to spend the night laying on your pillow with a dirty face.
No makeup, no washing? Think again. Even if you haven’t worn any makeup that day, your skin still attracts dirt and pollution that need to be washed away. When you wash your face, you remove those impurities and allow your pores to breathe. If you don’t wash your face, those impurities remain and cause skin issues (read:breakouts) along with impeding your skin’s natural repair process at night. That’s why it’s so important to cleanse your face with water and wipe it off with a clean towel.
So take that tiny bit of extra time to wash your face and remove your makeup before bed to keep your skin healthy and happy.
3. I will wear SPF Daily
Sunny, windy, snowy, cloudy, or any other condition calls for SPF. We know this. UVA and UVB rays are always shining down even if it’s not a sunshine-filled day. Those non-sunny days can be the ones that bring the most damage. We mistakenly assume that clouds are protecting us from the sun. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, up to 80% of the sun’s UV rays can pass through clouds. The simple solution is to infuse SPF into our routine every day—then there is no decision to make. It’s always an SPF-kinda day.
Keep it seamless and super lightweight by adding our Sun Silk Drops into your morning skincare routine. They’ve been specially designed to work alone or to mix in with any moisturizer to give it an SPF boost*. Then keep the SPF up with our cult-fave Refreshing Water Mist. It’s a super fine hydrating mist that provides fast SPF protection anytime.
So add in SPF each day no matter what—it’s a super simple way to keep skin protected.
*Blending Sun Silk Drops with other products may decrease the claimed SPF value.
