Happy Giving Tuesday!

This year, we wanted to contribute to a cause that is near and dear to our hearts 💙.

This Giving Tuesday, our team will be donating our gently used clothing to Brother Benno’s in Oceanside. This organization raises money to support and serve the local homeless community by providing food and drink, clothing, housing resources, and mental health and addiction support.

At COOLA, we are deeply committed to improving the health and safety of our community and environment.

From water pollution and consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and waste accumulation, the fashion industry has huge impact on the environment.

Did you know? The average consumer bought 60% more clothing in 2012 than in 2000, but kept each garment half as long.

It takes 2,700 liters of water to make one cotton shirt, which is enough water for one person to drink for 2 1/2 years.

So what can you do?

• Look at where your articles of clothing are manufactured before purchasing. Certain countries (EU, Canada, USA) have more strict environmental regulations for manufacturers and factories.

• Buy fewer, better made pieces that will last. Shop used when possible. Sites like Poshmark and DePop are great for buying and selling second hand.

• Participate in a local clothing drive to donate your lightly used garments instead of throwing them away.
